About The OCD Stories Podcast
Stu Ralph is one of the OCD community’s gems. He donates so much of his time to sharing the stories of others and raising awareness about OCD and he does so in such a Self-led, curious and open-minded way. I am thrilled that he has invited me and others to come onto the show and discuss using IFS with OCD.
My approach tends to be different that some IFS therapists who talk about using IFS with OCD. As I explain to Stu, I do think that OCD requires some expertise as many types of OCD are tough to recognize and therapists can fall into interactions such as reassurance that actually make OCD worse. That said, IFS is perfectly suited to treat OCD because it is not talk therapy and it is inherently experiential. This conversation begins to highlight some of the highlights of my upcoming book which conceptualized OCD through the lens of parts and multiplicity.
