Women in Transition
Women’s lives seem to be constantly in transition. From adolescence to adulthood to relationship changes, from infertility to motherhood, pre- to post-partum, and on and on… In my own life, I’ve sometimes wondered which part is meant not to be a transition.
Transition isn’t a bad thing – even difficult periods such as a divorce or bereavement are a time for growth and renewed understanding of our core values. But whether or not the life change in question is something we’ve chosen, transition is stressful and often accompanied by anxiety or depression.
I work with women to manage major life transitions and to help them seize these complex periods as opportunities for growth. I can help clients experiencing stressful physical transitions, such as:
- Puberty
- Infertility
- Pregnancy
- Lost or terminated pregnancies
- Post-partum depression
- Menopause
But emotional transitions can be just as seismic as physical ones. Both individually and in group I help women navigate these changes by providing:
- Parenting advice (particularly mothers of teen and tweens)
- Relationship counseling
- Anxiety and stress management techniques
By talking, learning and helping each other, I believe all women have it in them to engage constructively with transitions and to overcome whatever life throws at them.
